Volvo Trucks North America has introduced a new service contract that combines scheduled preventive maintenance with coverage for major powertrain repairs. The Silver Service Contract is available through the manufacturer’s authorized dealer network in the United States and Canada.
Announced October 27, 2026, the program expands on Volvo’s Blue Service Contract, introduced in 2024, by adding repair coverage for major driveline components. It also uses connected vehicle data to help determine when individual trucks need maintenance.
Silver Service Contract Covers Major Powertrain Components
The Silver Service Contract includes repairs involving the engine, engine aftertreatment system, transmission, clutch, and select driveline components. Coverage also includes the clutch lining kit, which is normally considered a wear item.
Preventive maintenance is included under the same agreement. Routine services cover engine oil and filter changes, fuel filter replacement, chassis lubrication, oil sample analysis and multipoint inspections.
Additional scheduled maintenance may include diesel particulate filter cleaning, transmission and rear axle oil changes, coolant service, valve adjustments, air dryer cartridge replacement and other manufacturer-specified procedures. The services included depend on the contract’s mileage terms.
Volvo also offers optional maintenance services through participating dealers, including annual DOT inspections, wheel alignment checks, truck washing, and vehicle pickup and delivery. Availability varies by location.
Maintenance Schedules Adjust to Truck Operating Conditions
The Silver Service Contract incorporates the connected maintenance system introduced with Volvo’s Blue Service Contract.
Rather than relying exclusively on fixed mileage intervals, the system uses information collected from the truck to evaluate powertrain operating conditions and adjust maintenance schedules.
A truck operating under more demanding conditions may require service sooner, while another vehicle may qualify for a longer interval between certain maintenance procedures.
The scheduling system is intended to account for differences in vehicle use, allowing maintenance intervals to reflect actual operating conditions rather than applying the same schedule to every truck.
Volvo introduced its connected Blue Service Contract in 2024, establishing the maintenance management system that is now included in the Silver plan.
Dealer Fleet Managers Coordinate Service and Repairs
Each customer enrolled in the Silver Service Contract is assigned a Volvo Fleet Manager at a certified dealership.
The Fleet Manager coordinates maintenance appointments using information received from connected vehicles and serves as the primary contact for service planning.
Responsibilities also include coordinating manufacturer service campaigns, recalls and over-the-air software updates.
When a truck requires an unexpected repair, the Fleet Manager can arrange for scheduled preventive maintenance to be completed during the same shop visit if service is due.
For breakdowns occurring away from a truck’s regular dealership, the Fleet Manager can coordinate with another authorized Volvo service location. Volvo Action Service, the manufacturer’s 24-hour roadside assistance and service coordination network, provides additional support.
Maintenance and repairs under the agreement are performed by certified Volvo technicians using genuine or authorized Volvo parts.
Financing and Contract Availability
The Silver Service Contract is available to eligible Volvo customers through a network of nearly 400 authorized dealerships across the United States and Canada.
Customers financing a truck through Volvo Financial Services can include the service contract in their truck financing agreement. Under that arrangement, the contract cost is distributed across the financing period without additional interest on the service contract portion.
Volvo has not announced a standard price for the Silver Service Contract. Costs may depend on the vehicle, contract mileage and selected coverage.
The manufacturer identifies the all-new Volvo VNL and VNR among the models eligible for Silver coverage.
Volvo’s Three Service Contract Levels
Volvo Trucks North America currently offers three service contract options with different coverage arrangements.
The Blue Service Contract focuses on connected preventive maintenance, using vehicle operating data to adjust service schedules.
The new Silver Service Contract adds major powertrain repair coverage to the maintenance services included in Blue.
The Gold Service Contract provides comprehensive service coverage for the Volvo VNR Electric and is offered in connection with the purchase of that model.
Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America, said the new Silver agreement is intended to address maintenance and powertrain repair expenses within a single monthly payment.
The program represents an expansion of Volvo’s connected maintenance offerings, combining scheduled service, covered powertrain repairs and dealership coordination under one contract.
