If you’re a trucker, you know that time is money, and that every second counts. That’s why it’s important to find new ways to save time on our runs. Luckily, there’s a new technology out there that can help with just that.
IntelliTrans introduced a functionality within the IntelliTrans Transportation Management System (TMS) mobile app that allows truck drivers entering a facility to follow loading instructions without having to get out of the cab.
This may sound like a small thing, but by eliminating the need for drivers to get out and wait in line for loading instructions, the new Kiosk feature improves driver safety, speeds up the check-in process, and reduces on-site time.
This new technology allows the process to be entirely self-service and managed by a mobile device from arrival at the facility to being called in for loading via text or push notification.
In addition, guards at the guard shack and warehouse personnel preparing shipments can also see when a tuck is approaching prior to check-in. This allows for maximized efficiency because the guard is expecting you when you arrive allowing them to wave you into the yard without you having to get out of your truck. Advanced confirmation allows ample time for the required product staging as well, so your load is ready for you when you arrive.
As part of the check-in process, drivers review and acknowledge gate agreements, safety requirements, shipment details, and provide an e-signature, all of which is sent to the customers’ ERP through an API. According to the company, this supports corporate audit initiatives and expedites the entire process.
The IntelliTrans Kiosk also features the following:
- Pictorial instructions, such as personal protective equipment requirements while on-site.
- Wireless interface to industrial lighted signage, providing drivers a real-time view of their position in line and instructions to move from waiting areas.
- Direct call-in of drivers from forklift operators using the IntelliTrans TMS Dock Schedule, which updates the signage and notifies drivers through push notifications (when using the app) and text messaging (when using the fixed kiosk)
- Multi-language capability.
