Anthony Robles, a truck driver working for Hickman’s Family Farms, has been recognized by the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) as a Highway Angel. Robles’ quick thinking and bravery came to the rescue when he witnessed a crash involving a pickup truck unfold before him.

On the morning of March 21, 2023, Robles was driving along State Route 85 when he was struck by another vehicle. The car that hit him then careened off the road and into the desert.

Without hesitation, Robles exited his own vehicle and ran towards the other driver to see if he could offer assistance. Despite being unsure of what he might face, Robles bravely ran towards the car and tried to open the driver’s door. When this proved too difficult, he immediately went to the other side of the vehicle to where he tried the passenger door with no luck.

“He was out (unconscious),” Robles said. “Me and two other guys busted out his window and helped get him out of the truck.”

Once they got the driver out of the vehicle, Robles realized the man was not breathing and had no pulse.

“I saw him not breathing and knew what had to be done,” he said. “I was a little worked up but kept my head on straight.”

Robles performed CPR and chest compressions on a driver in need until EMS arrived and took over care. As an experienced truck driver of nearly six years, Robles remained calm and proactive in helping the injured man. Later reports stated that the driver had experienced a medical emergency but is now in stable condition.
