The Georgia Department of Transportation is proposing two projects that would add a total of 59 truck parking spaces along Interstate 75 in Monroe County.
The agency is accepting public comments on the proposals through August 15.
Proposed Truck Parking Projects
The two projects include:
Monroe County Weigh Station (Northbound): GDOT plans to add 23 truck parking spaces at an estimated cost of $4 million. Construction is expected to begin this fall.
Rest Area 22 (Southbound): The project would add 36 truck parking spaces with an estimated cost of $2 million. Construction is scheduled to begin in early summer 2027.
According to GDOT, each project is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
Drivers and other members of the public can submit comments on the proposed projects until August 15.
