Truck drivers traveling Interstate 94 in North Dakota now have access to 26 truck parking spaces at the newly reopened Oriska Rest Area. The $10 million project replaced the previous building and reconstructed the parking lot to better accommodate commercial vehicles and other travelers.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) announced that construction was complete and the facility had opened to the public after closing for reconstruction in April 2025.
New Parking and Rest Area Amenities
Located approximately two miles east of Oriska at mile marker 304, the rest area includes a new building, four sheltered picnic tables, a courtyard, a walking path, and a dog park.
The improvements provide truck drivers with additional parking options along I-94 and outdoor spaces to use during breaks. The redesigned parking lot was also part of the state’s effort to improve accessibility and accommodate travelers using the interstate.
NDDOT Maintenance Division Director Brandon Beise described the project as an investment in the interstate corridor, particularly for freight haulers who depend on places to park and rest during their trips.
The facility’s interior also includes displays developed with contributions from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, the North Dakota Department of Commerce, and the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
With construction complete, the Oriska Rest Area is once again available to travelers along I-94, offering designated truck parking and updated amenities at mile marker 304.
