ATRI’s 2023 Research Priorities Include Women Drivers and Truck Parking

Research, charts and information spread out on desk

The American Transportation Research Institute’s (ATRI) Board of Directors has approved the top research priorities for 2023, as identified by the ATRI Research Advisory Committee. The Institute’s committee has selected a diverse set of research priorities, designed to tackle some of the transportation industry’s most critical issues.

The five top research topics include:

  • Expanding Truck Parking at Public Rest Areas
  • Identifying Barriers to Entry for Female Truck Drivers
  • Complete Streets Impact on Freight Mobility
  • Examining the Diesel Technician Shortage
  • The Cost of Driver Detention

Through these research priorities, ATRI intends to identify and map trucker needs, promote female truck driver hiring, assess vocational training availability, and mitigate driver detention concerns. The ATRI Board of Directors hopes that these research priorities will help shape the future of freight transportation.
