Diesel Prices Take Another Dip: Fuel Decreases for 7th Consecutive Week

In a welcome development, the cost of diesel fuel continued to drop across the nation this week. After seven consecutive decreases, prices have now fallen by over 6 cents per gallon and stand at $4.185 – their lowest level since last December according to data from the Energy Information Administration released on March 20th.

  • The price of diesel has declined 43.7 cents on average since January 30th when a gallon cost $4.622
  • The average price of diesel has fallen in eight of the EIA’s 11 reporting periods this year
  • A gallon of diesel now costs 94.9 cents less on average than it did at this time in 2022
  • The average cost of diesel dropped in all 10 regions in EIA’s weekly survey, from a high of 8.1 cents in the Rocky Mountain area to a low of 2.3 cents in the West Coast with the exception of California
  • The national average price for a gallon of diesel fell 3.4 cents to $3.422, marking an 81.7 cent decrease from a year ago
