Job Description

General Summary: 

A driver has the general responsibility for operating the assorted vehicles maintained and utilized at Tranco Logistics. 

A driver is expected to work with other employees to effectively meet or exceed expectations for quality and operations. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Has the primary function of operating vehicles. 
  • Maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Maintain clean driving record.
  • Report ANY citations or violations whether personal or work vehicles within 24 hours.
  • Possesses the ability to read and follow operating procedures.
  • Performs job duties with no assistance or supervision. Independent judgment is required.
  • Adheres to company safety guidelines.
  • Adheres to all DOT regulations.
  • Adheres and performs all duties relating to ELD mandates.
  • Must accurately document all work performed on receiving/shipping documents.
  • Must maintain and turn in all receiving/shipping documents for billing purposes.
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and equipment
  • Perform regular safety inspections of equipment in keeping with company SOPs and OSHA standards.
  • Records and reports any mechanical defect needing repair.
  • Secure loads with the proper equipment needed for transport to the end-user (e.g. straps, load bars, chains, dunnage).
  • Performs additional duties as required under the direction of his/her supervisor.
  • New drivers that start after 1/30/2023 are required to go through the Human Abilities Test (HAT)

Requirements:

  • Educational:
    • Be able to speak, read, write and comprehend instructions and SOP’s written in English
    • Meet all applicable DOT requirements.
  • Technical:
    • Knowledge of driving a commercial truck such as tractor trailer rigs, yard tractor and or commercial box trucks
  • Physical:
    • Pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
    • Be able to climb in & out of a tractor and trailer.  Occasional stepping up and down 25 inches
    • Be able to stoop and maintain balance
    • Job requires long periods of sitting constantly
    • Occasional lifting 25 lb from floor to overhead
    • Occasional pushing/pulling 90 lb to open/close hood of truck
    • Occasional squatting/bending underneath 46in vertical height to inspect truck
    • Occasional reaching forward, reaching overhead, fingering, twisting, kneeling
    • Frequent handling and grasping of a tractor, a trailer and controls associated those pieces of equipment.
    • The driver post hire offer will be contingent upon each driver passing the DOT drug test, Tranco road test and the Human Abilities Test
  • Environment:
    • Work is performed in a low noise, well maintained environment with the associated hazards of driving.
    • We are a “No Touch” load / unload company
  • Training: 
    • Requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).
    • 3 years or equivalent commercial driving experience such as yard tractor, tractor trailer rig, and or any large commercial vehicle..
    • Requires special skills associated with trucking & logistics industry   based on extensive training and experience.

  • Interaction: Able to communicate well verbally and in writing with employees and management as needed.

    • Must be able to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to interface and communicate with people effectively.
