Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores recently announced that it has been granted $4.8 million in federal funding. This funding is specifically designated for the construction of electric vehicle charging stations at eight different locations.

The funding comes from the Federal Highway Administration’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program, a program focused on creating a network of EV charging infrastructure in Pennsylvania and Colorado.

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores was selected, alongside Trillium Energy Solutions, to be part of this exciting investment opportunity.

“As the nation begins widescale adoption of EVs, two important factors for successful planning include on-site support and available footprint to build out additional charging infrastructure,” said Kim Okafor, general manager of zero emission for Trillium. “With more than 640 locations nationwide, Love’s Travel Stops are in a prime position to support transportation departments in rolling out NEVI projects state by state.”

The NEVI program, an initiative established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, is set to improve electric vehicle (EV) charging. With an ambitious goal of creating a comprehensive national system of EV chargers, this program is set to pave the way for a greener and more sustainable transportation future.

Trillium, a company specializing in designing, building, and maintaining clean-fueling stations, is at the forefront of this movement. Their expertise will be instrumental in the success of the NEVI program.

In addition, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Colorado Energy Office, along with the Colorado Department of Transportation, have secured substantial funding for EV charger installations.

In Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock, Mifflinville, Brookville, and Jonestown will see the installation of EV chargers, thanks to a generous $2.6 million funding allocation. Meanwhile, in Colorado, existing stations in Buena Vista, Eads, Parachute, and Hudson will receive a significant investment of $2.2 million to build state-of-the-art EV chargers.
