Mack Trucks has unveiled significant enhancements to its MD Series of medium-duty trucks, available in both diesel and electric variants, four years after their debut. The latest updates showcase a more spacious cab and incorporate advanced safety features, ultimately improving the driving experience.

Increased Cab Space and Driver Comfort

A standout feature of the facelift is the extended cab, which now offers an additional four inches of legroom. This increase aims to provide greater comfort for drivers during long-distance travel. Borrowing elements from Mack’s Class 8 Anthem series, the MD Series introduces an overhead console that boosts storage capabilities.

Inside, the cab boasts premium satin aluminum accents, ergonomic seating with lumbar support for optimal comfort, and upgraded LED lighting for enhanced visibility. Furthermore, the steering wheel now includes integrated controls for cruise control, phone calls, and audio settings—conveniences that improve usability and safety, especially for those accustomed to Mack’s Class 8 lineup.

Jonathan Randall, president of Mack Trucks North America, emphasized, “The launch of the refreshed Mack MD Series once again demonstrates Mack’s commitment to delivering the best medium-duty truck for our customers. Since the MD Series was introduced in 2020, Mack has continued to listen to our customers and make ongoing improvements to meet their operational needs.”

Enhanced Safety and Operational Efficiency

The updated MD Series trucks are now fitted with state-of-the-art safety features, including a new Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) combined with Automatic Traction Control (ATC), advanced radio controls for reversing scenarios, and a park brake alarm.

Available in both MD6 and MD7 configurations, these models cater to different weight classes, with the MD6 classified under Class 6 and a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 25,995 pounds, while the MD7 is classified under Class 7 at 33,000 pounds. Both variations benefit from being exempt from the 12% Federal Excise Tax (FET).

Engineered with industry-standard cab-to-axle measurements, the trucks feature pre-wired connections, a repositioned air dryer, and modified wheelbases, making it easier to match various body styles to the chassis.
