According to Illinois State Police, an 18-wheeler actually lost eight of its eighteen wheels along interstate 55 in Lemont, Illinois. The semi lost its rear tandem axle assembly suspension unit. When the axle disconnected, it bounced into another lane hitting a school bus, which was only occupied by its driver. Both the semi driver & the school bus driver were able to pull their vehicles onto the shoulder and refused medical treatment.
