On June 29 a tractor-trailer carrying ferric chloride crashed on Interstate 49 in Louisiana. The truck was headed south to Houston when it hit a bump causing the truck driver to lose control. Ferric chloride is a chemical used in sewage treatment and drinking water productions. Traffic was backed up and diverted on I-49 northbound onto Louisiana Highway 1. The highway was cleared and reopened later that night after the truck was emptied and towed away from the scene. There were HAZMAT crews called to the scene of the crash and they made sure that the trucker was okay.
