In a heartwarming act of compassion, a truck driver saved the life of an abandoned puppy found stranded along the treacherous stretch of Interstate 10, her fragile neck cruelly bound by a tight zip tie.
The rescue unfolded on October 20, when the observant driver spotted the distressed canine near the Benson, Arizona exit ramp. Without hesitation, he halted his journey to free the helpless puppy from her suffocating constraints.
The driver provided the puppy with much-needed hydration, ensuring her well-being until the arrival of a trooper.
“Trooper Iliana Magallanes responded to the scene and found the puppy with a swollen neck and bloodshot eyes, but still friendly and happy despite her ordeal,” according to a Facebook post from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (ADPS). “Trooper Magallanes secured a spot for the puppy with Benson Animal Shelter, and made sure to keep her comfortable with a blanket and plenty of attention before transporting her there.”
After receiving medical attention and care for a few health issues, the adorable pup is now on the road to recovery. Currently, the furry friend is enjoying a comfortable foster home while eagerly waiting for her forever family.
“Great work by everyone who came together to help this pup!” the ADPS wrote in its Facebook post. “Thank you to the truck driver who stopped to save her, and to Benson Animal Shelter, Paws and Claws for ensuring she gets healthy and finds a good home.”
