Two truckers win big on Powerball lottery tickets

Two truckers in two different states recently won 7-figure Powerball lottery prizes!

Howard Poole won a $10 million prize on a $30 Powerball ticket he bought at the Sandy Cross Mart in his hometown of Burlington, North Carolina.

Poole said he stopped at the gas station on N.C.49 to collect a $20 scratch-off prize and decided to try his luck again with what turned out to be a $30 golden ticket. He was able to choose between receiving the $10 million prize in annual increments of $500,000 or a lump sum of $6 million. He chose the lump sum and received $4.2 million after taxes.

Poole said he will use some of his prize to buy a new home for his mother and help support his brother who has cancer.

Quang Vo, of El Monte, CA won $1 million on a Powerball ticket he bought at the Ocala Stopping Center in Reddick, Florida. It matched all five of the white ball numbers, missing only the Powerball number.

“I try to buy a lottery ticket in every state I pass through when I’m on the road,” Vo said. “You never know when you could be a winner!”
