Eco Flaps is introducing an exciting new product suite that includes a new wheel cap and a re-engineered, aerodynamic mud flap design. The new products are more durable, easier to install and have been proven to increase fuel savings after staggering test results from Mesilla Valley Transportation Solutions (MVTS).

MVTS found that Eco Flaps’ high-impact nylon splash guards saved up to 2.10 percent, or 2.4 gallons per 1,000 miles, on fuel on double 28-foot trailers with trailer skirts. The Eco Caps alone saved 1.85 percent or 2.06 gallons per 1,000 miles. When used in conjunction, Eco Caps and Eco Flaps saved 3.9 percent, or 4.45 gallons per 1,000 miles, on 28-foot double trailers with skirts. Eco Flaps were also tested on a single 28-foot trailer with skirts and showed savings of 2.60 percent, or 2.41 gallons per 1,000 miles.

“We are thrilled to see the results shown on our recent test with MVTS,” Eco Flaps President Asa Hazelwood said. “With the numbers showing significant savings on 28-foot trailers, this could show LTL carriers a drastic change in fuel and maintenance costs each year.”

The patented designs were created to enhance other fuel-saving products like Eco Caps or trailer skirts. However, when MVTS tested Eco Flaps in a stand-alone test, the results showed 1.9 percent, or 2.14 gallons saved per 1,000 miles on unskirted 28-foot double trailers.

The LTL fleets aren’t the only carriers seeing drastic savings by installing Eco Flaps’ new products. MVTS found savings of 1.34 percent or 1.29 gallons per 1,000 miles on skirted 48-foot trailers. Backed by a two-year warranty on all of their products, carriers of all sizes are reaping the benefits of retrofitting their fleet with the Eco Flaps product suite.

“These results prove that Eco Flaps and Eco Caps, when used together, can save carriers thousands or even millions of dollars in some cases,” Hazelwood said. “Not only are you saving on fuel costs, the high-impact Nylon66 reduces the amount of mud flaps and wheel caps the carrier is replacing each year.”

These “Made in USA” products are proving to save much more than just fuel. Weighing under three pounds or less, the new Eco Flaps are more durable than ever and allow for easier installation on angled brackets. Additionally, the splash guards reduce road spray by 68 percent — creating a safer environment for everyone on the road.

The most innovative wheel cover on the market, Eco Caps, was designed to be the easiest installation of any wheel cover product featuring a no-tool installation. The product can be installed in under five seconds. Removal also requires no tools and can be removed in under five seconds. Eco Caps are made from the same durable high-impact nylon that Eco Flaps are made from.
