Truck drivers traveling through Tennessee on Interstate 65 will soon have another stop option along one of the South’s busiest freight corridors.
Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop is scheduled to officially open June 24 at Exit 22 in Cornersville, Tennessee, about an hour south of Nashville and roughly an hour northwest of Huntsville, Alabama.
Inspired by Dolly Parton’s life and career on the road, the travel stop is being developed as both a roadside destination and gathering place for travelers and the local community.
According to a statement from the company, the location “is built on the belief that every traveler deserves comfort, good food, and a genuine welcome.”
The project was created through a partnership involving Parton, her manager Danny Nozell, and Gregory H. Sachs, who has owned and operated the Tennessean Travel Stop since 2017.
Developers said the concept was influenced by Parton’s longtime connection to touring and travel, from growing up in East Tennessee to decades spent traveling the country by bus throughout her music career.
Travel Stop Will Feature Food, Coffee, and Driver-Focused Attractions
The location will include DLY BBQ, Dolly’s Cup of Ambition Coffee, and a full-service restaurant for travelers stopping along the I-65 corridor.
The property will also feature a Doggy Parton dog park, an original mural dedicated to Cornersville, and a tour bus display inspired by the buses Parton has traveled in during her career.
Developers said the Tennessee location is planned as the first in a larger travel stop expansion project.
I-65 Corridor Continues Seeing Heavy Truck Traffic
Interstate 65 remains a major trucking corridor connecting Tennessee with Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, and several major Midwest and Southern freight markets.
Drivers moving retail freight, food distribution loads, manufacturing freight, and regional dry van freight regularly travel through the Nashville and central Tennessee corridor, making additional travel stop options along the route especially noticeable for drivers spending long hours on the road.
The grand opening celebration for Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop is scheduled for June 24, with additional event details expected to be announced closer to opening day. Developers also said a week-long Fourth of July celebration is planned after the launch.
Parton remains one of Tennessee’s most recognizable public figures through her music career, tourism projects, and philanthropic work, including Dollywood and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
