Nearly 1400 Daimler trucks were recalled for unexpected engine shutdown

According to 24 Trucking News Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has recalled certain Freightliner and Western Star trucks due to a potential engine control module defect that could increase the risk of a crash. They reported that the “DTNA recall affects a total of 1,375 trucks, with an estimated 100% of the recalled vehicles expected to have the reported defect.”

Affected truck models include

– 2023 Freightliner 108SD and 114SD

– Business Class M2

– Cascadia

– 2023 Freightliner FCCC MC, MT45, S2C 106CAB, XCM, S2RV 106CAB, XCR, and XCS

– 2023 Western Star 4700, 49X, and 47X vehicles

DTNA is actively working on troubleshooting and finding a remedy for this issue. Truck owners affected by the recall are to be notified by a letter starting on September 26, 2022.
