Keith RahnA truck driver from Radford, Virginia, named Keith Rahn, has been honored by the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) for his commendable act of assisting a stranded woman with three small children on Interstate 80 in dense fog. Rahn, who works for WEL Companies in De Pere, Wisconsin, received the TCA Highway Angel Award for the second time in the past few months.

On the evening of September 29, around 9:20 p.m., Rahn was navigating through thick fog on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 when he noticed a car stranded in the right lane. The driver of the stranded car, Jessica Lynn Daniels, was traveling with her two infants and a 7-year-old, desperately seeking help without a phone.

“Thankfully I saw her,” Rahn said. “She was actually in traffic, had lost power, and she didn’t have power even for the lights on her car. She was dead stopped.”

Jessica Lynn Daniels, appreciative of Rahn’s assistance, submitted a TCA Highway Angel nomination form recounting the incident. Rahn’s timely intervention showcased exemplary kindness and courage, earning him recognition from the TCA.

“Thankfully he was observant in the heavy fog and was able to stop and help push my car off the roadway and onto the shoulder before I was struck by another car,” Daniels wrote about Rahn. “Nobody was stopping until this driver came and helped. He gave me all of his information, called the Ohio State Troopers and stayed with me until they arrived to assist. I really am grateful for this driver and I am sure that he saved our lives. God bless him.”

The TCA Highway Angels program, established in August 1997, has acknowledged nearly 1,300 professional truck drivers for their outstanding acts of kindness, courtesy, and courage while on duty. The program’s ability to spotlight exceptional drivers like Rahn is made possible by the support of its presenting sponsor, EpicVue, and supporting sponsor, DriverFacts.
