Winter weather causes pileup near Wyoming-Nebraska border

A weekend winter storm caused the season’s first major pileup on Interstate 80 near the Wyoming-Nebraska border.

On Sunday afternoon, a pileup was reported on westbound I-80 between Cheyenne and the Wyoming/Nebraska border.

According to postings on Facebook, approximately 10 semi trucks and 5 passenger vehicles were involved in the crash.

It isn’t clear if there were injuries.

On Sunday, hundreds of miles of interstate in Wyoming and Nebraska were closed for hours due to crashes and the inclement weather conditions.

As of Monday morning, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) reports that I-80 has reopened in both directions from the Nebraska state line to Rawlins.

WYDOT warned on Monday morning that snow and slick roads are still a concern and encourage drivers to check the latest road conditions at wyoroad.info before traveling.
